  Sweet Spot

Tennis elbow hampering your game? Pick up the Kinetic tennis racket and get back on the court. One hundred tiny chambers filled with lead micro-granules embedded in the racket's frame react on impact, dispersing the vibration and force of hitting the ball. It's much easier on your joints and the design actually provides a more powerful and accurate strike on the ball. And with its wide-head design, you shouldn't miss many balls.

Kinetic rackets: £149.50 to £250. Available from most major sports retailers.

  Left, Right?

We've all had those times on the road when we arrive late, become nervous and sweaty, or even risk an accident while looking at a map and driving simultaneously. Now the totally wired road warrior can pack a Trimble GPS system connected to a laptop. Working in conjunction with one of Microsoft's route-planning products, you can download maps for the desired region, plug in a PC card or serial-connected antenna, establish contact with the satellite and plan our route as well as track our progress.

  Squintless

Small camcorders have tiny viewfinders, right? Not if you get your hands on the new Sharp Digital ViewCam, which features a 13cm (5 inch) colour LCD display. It records both digital video and audio, and the built-in 1:5 compression allows you to record with the same quality as "commercial-use" cameras. You can plug it directly into your PC to cut, copy, paste, manipulate and generally mess about with your footage from the safety of your desk. Isn't life in the '90s great?

Sharp VL-DH5000 ViewCam: About £2,150. You'll have to pick it up in Japan; it's not yet available in the UK. Sharp Corp. (Japan): +81 (6) 625 3007, fax +81 (6) 626 1667.

  Wet Scream

Here's your chance to be an outlaw of the waterways. Sea-Doo has developed a high-performance, single-rider racing machine designed for those who get their thrills on the edge. The 85-horsepower HX is the only water craft with a direct-action supsension system embedded in the seat to help cushion the ride. By adjusting the turning force and centre of gravity, the suspension also improves handling. The faster you go into a turn, the better the suspension works. Great - if somewhat expensive - news for speed demons everywhere.
